2007 Writing Competition

Once again we are running four writing competition - something for everyone, whatever your age!

Entry is free for children up to 18, and £2 for adults.
There will be prizes for the first and second in each category, judged by independent judges.

For children under the age of 11, we want you to write a poem of no more than 16 lines entitled MEMORIES. There will be two categories for this section, ages 5-6 and 7-10.

For children between the ages of 11 and 17, we want a story in EXACTLY 100 words! The story to be titled JUSTICE WAS DONE. Interpret that however you like!

For the 18 and overs, can we please have a story of up to 800 words, entitled THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE, again interpreted however you want.

All the competitions are being generously sponsored by Dr Jack Dominian of Chorleywood in memory of his wife Edith Mary Dominian

1 The closing date is April 30th.
2 Only one entry per person.
3 Each entry must be accompanied by an official entry form. Forms are available from the Festival website, Chorleywood Bookshop or Chorleywood Library
4 In the 5—17 categories, the entry form must be signed by a parent/guardian.
5 Entries must be typed, word processed or written very neatly.
6 We cannot accept entries by e-mail.
7 Entries should be delivered to Chorleywood Bookshop or Chorleywood Library or posted to Chorleywood Bookshop, 4 New Parade, Chorleywood, Herts, WD3 5NJ
8 The winners will be notified by May 8th.
9 Prizes will be presented during the Festival weekend.
10. Entries will not be returned, but may be displayed in public during the Festival weekend e.g. in the Library and Memorial Hall. Winning entries may also be published e.g. on the Festival website, in local newspapers and magazines.
